The 15th of August is the date of the annual Kenmare Fair. This event is one of the highlights of Kenmare’s Diary and is a must if you’ve never experienced it. (Not to be confused with the Kenmare Market Day every Wednesday) The town will be packed, so be prepared for trafffic chaos and parking madness – but it’s worth a visit as it’s a unique experience.

Fair day was a major part and parcel of all market towns in Ireland in days gone by, but now it’s all but a distant memory for most towns. Kenmare has one of the few remaining authentic Fairs and you’ll find all manor of beast and fowl on sale…

There’s something for everyone with an eclectic mix of horse sales, power tools, fortune telling, pints, music and a general madness in the air.

Opening Hours: 10am-6pm daily (but closed Mon-Thurs in August except by appointment)
Admission Charge: Adults €6.00, Children under 16 €3.00; Family Ticket (2 adults + children under 16) €18.00

There’s an exciting line-up of activities and entertainment for Christmas 2009 in Kenmare.

There’s something for everyone in Kenmare this Christmas – so spread the word and come on out and experience the wonder of Christmas in Kenmare.

Famed as a historic tourist destination, with a variety of things to do. A trip to Garnish Island is a must – to see the seal colony and the magnificent gardens. The Garnish Island Ferry runs a shuttle service to the Island. The Glengarriff Nature Reserve is an ancient Oak woodland which is popular with walkers and ramblers.

There was a huge turnout for Jack and Jill this year and it was a great event. Well done to everyone who participated!

There’s a charity run (or walk!) on Saturday 18th 2009 April at 3.00pm

All monies raised in the event are to be donated to the Jack and Jill Foundation. So this is for a great cause – come on join in!
