Glengarriff is well worth a visit if you have a spare afternoon. It’s about a 30 min drive over the mountain and the trip itself is one of the most visually stunning in the area. The road takes you up through Bonane and Turners Tunnels and then down into Glengarriff, which is a picturesque village on Bantry Bay.

Famed as a historic tourist destination, with a variety of things to do. A trip to Garnish Island is a must – to see the seal colony and the magnificent gardens. The Glengarriff Nature Reserve is an ancient Oak woodland which is popular with walkers and ramblers.

Golf Kenmare

Golf is one of the great attractions of Kenmare, with easy access to some great courses and the added bonus of Kenmare’s reputation as one of the fine dining destinations in Ireland with a great selection of restaurants and eateries.

Kenmare Market is a lively outdoors market held every Wednesday in Kenmare Town on the Square.

You’ll find a large food section with cheeses, olives, fresh fish, fresh breads and take away food, there are also plenty of antiques, bric a brac, books and tools…

The Motor Museum is a must for anyone with an interest in cars and their history. The Mitchels have been restoring cars for generations and have a wonderful collection of beautiful classic and vintage cars. I can highly recommend a trip to the Motor Museum for anyone interested in cars.

Seafari offers an exciting wildlife cruise of Kenmare bay. Leaving from the pier, the cruise is hosted by Captain Ross, who is a qualified biologist and experienced seafarer.
