Glengarriff
Monday, May 11th, 2009Glengarriff is well worth a visit if you have a spare afternoon. It’s about a 30 min drive over the mountain and the trip itself is one of the most visually stunning in the area. The road takes you up through Bonane and Turners Tunnels and then down into Glengarriff, which is a picturesque village on Bantry Bay.
Famed as a historic tourist destination, with a variety of things to do. A trip to Garnish Island is a must – to see the seal colony and the magnificent gardens. The Glengarriff Nature Reserve is an ancient Oak woodland which is popular with walkers and ramblers.
